I started to work my way through Apple’s SwiftUI Tutorial. Not that I plan to do anything concrete with it, but it’s interesting to find out how things work. It has a super steep learning curve… 😮

I think it would be great for discovery if the /following pages had information from the about box. Currently it is just a list of profile images and names, for example: micro.blog/macgenie/…

Enjoyed this post from @colly pointing out what makes personal websites great and why there is a need for them: colly.com/articles/…

Especially if you’re not used to work from home: Take time off. Like off-off. If you’re staying in the same home, close your laptop. Lock it away if that helps you. You, your brain, your health needs periods of zero obligations. 🧠

Me: “Hey internet, how do I do X in PHP.” The internet: “Here’s how to do it in Python.” Me: “Haha, yeah. I could adapt that, but it has matrices, so I’d prefer a PHP example.” The internet: “Here’s how to do it in Python.” 🤬

I generally like the venue in Milton Keynes for #Snooker, but darn that ongoing hum is headache inducing! I’ve used Sound Source to dial it down, but it makes the commentators harder to understand…

Really looking forward to the Selby/O’Sullivan #Snooker Scottish Open final today (2pm/8pm Central European Time). 🎱

I learned something today: console.log does not work in PHP – as I had expected. console.log does not throw a PHP error. Guess who looked through their code wanting to output something for testing purposes and it just didn’t output anything… (Hint: This guy!)

Of course, the one time I need an IE11/Win8 virtualization, it is broken beyond repair. And back to downloading and setting them up again.

What an intense #snooker UK Championship final. Super close all the way! 🎱

Super tense first frame of the evening session in the UK Championship & I was messing around building a Scriptable widget on snooker.org’s API to display live-ish scores. I love the possibilities, but it’s cumbersome to lay out stacks in the widget. I wished I could just use CSS!

Hi @Burk, can I suggest 🦾 for an “Accessibility” tagmoji? 😃 I would love to foster the #a11y community here on micro.blog.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Started watching The Clone Wars, the animated Star Wars series that tells an extended story during the prequels time. I’m usually not watching animated stuff, but The Mandalorian made me more interested in the Star Wars universe, so I thought to give it a shot. I’m following this Clone Wars …

Happy Blue Beanie Day! I just released a new video for this occasion: youtube.com/watch… #bbd20 #BlueBeanieDay

I took the Black Friday offer and completed my library of @thesweetsetup courses. I was only interested in two of the remaining courses but they combined were less than the cost of completion. Their complete bundle is discounted until Monday and I found the ones that I currently have super …

Amazing Northern Ireland Open final between Judd Trump and Ronnie O‘Sullivan. The former needs only one frame to win, the latter has won two quick consecutive frames and is one frame behind. #snooker

So, what is everyone doing with their NFC stickers? 😉

It’s not nearly winter here, but it is finally a nice crisp fall. Two days ago or so, I saw the moon having a nice crest and grabbed a tripod to do my first 30s nightshot with my iPhone 12 Pro off the balcony. Such incredible detail!

Okay, #a11y peeps. Is it really a problem to have an <aside> inside of the <main> element? I have seen that assessment a couple of times, and I question if that’s correct. The ARIA Spec says about role="complementary", which <aside> has: A supporting section of the …

I just accidentally wrote: “I’m in meetings for the rest of the days.” Feels awfully correct…

I really like these video experiments! The night mode stuff is super creative. www.youtube.com/watch

Updated to macOS Big Sur and it feels OK. Nothing seems too broken :-)

PSA: In W3C a Note is recommending something. For example the ARIA Practices document is a note and it’s recommended to do what is in there. A Recommendation is a standard and you must write your website according to those standards. Not confusing at all! 😂

These days, a lot of the time I spend is telling people how to interpret accessibility testing tool results or how these testing tools actually overshoot or are nitpicky with no real user impact. Time that can’t go into training people doing the right thing out of the gate. 🤷‍♂️
