@AndyNicolaides Apparently the power to display a graphic next to the username. The deadliest power! 😂 It’s all so bad.

@Aleen masto.host is basically like setting up a hosted wordpress. I never had to do system maintenance or anything, they did take care of everything.

@AndyNicolaides Power to the people, unless you live outside of the listed countries or are using Android or Twitter on the web. 🤷‍♂️

@danimo @Luca +100. Danke und pass auf dich auf.

@SuperPenguin I hope so.

@spellacy No worries. It is fun that things are and can be differently handled between technologies. 😀

@SteveSawczyn You’re welcome. 😃

@lioman that sounds like a lot for the “I want an alternative to Twitter“ use case

@renevanbelzen Good that that works for you. I would like to have a friendly nod into an authors’ direction from time to time. I understand and agree why it is not here, but still, it is a social interaction that I like. Maybe I create a user script with a non-working like button just so that I can …

@renevanbelzen @jean Yes ;-) Bookmarks work pretty much like Twitter bookmarks instead of likes. I am ok without likes, but sometimes it would be nice to have a quick way to “acknowledge” a micro.blog entry without a full reply.

@jean I still would sometimes like a “retweet” feature, embedding is nice, but also a bit cumbersome. But that might just be muscle memory. Thanks for all your work, I really appreciate it. This explainers are very important.

@spellacy One of the nicest things of micro.blog is that I cannot see who is following me, so I started to care less about followers and numbers.

@spellacy Yes, see a11y.info/settings/... You configure the redirect and your followers will be automatically added to the new account.

@autiomaa Thanks for letting me know of the outdated links on my micro.blog /about/ page. (I can receive but not send direct messages on micro.blog – hence replying in the open 🙂)

@mattgemmell Seeing it on micro.blog! :-D

@mattgemmell I can see it! 🙂

@shepazu Oh yeah, voting machines – I always forget those. We still count everything the old fashined way! 😂 (And I understood the joking 😅)

@shepazu As an election helper, we would discuss the case and probably count it as Democratic. At least if it was an election in Germany. If the voter makes their intent clear then we are asked to make as many votes as possible count. Of course, your american milage may vary.

@patrick_h_lauke You can verify yourself with your domain or other accounts using rel=me links.

@MerylEvans Maybe they tried to convey emphasis or mocking? “John Smith, FBI” vs. “John Smith, F—B—I”

@spellacy @MerylEvans Classical misunderstanding – because it is different on Mastodon. When you click “follow”, the server of the person who you want to follow needs to know where to send the request. That’s why you need to enter your username. Clicking follow then redirects to your instance where …

@rknightuk Thanks!

@pratik They can follow you, too. You can even give them a page with instructions: micro.blog/pratik

Hier hingegen …

@aarongustafson I had @yatil@mastodon.social, then had my self-hosted instance for 18 months or so. I moved to @yatil because I didn’t use my self-hosted one as much. Now I’m at @yatil which is not a Mastodon instance but my micro.blog account. I have the toot.cafe account to allow people to find me …
