@s_wilcox No, that’s basically it, but I wonder if there is a need to have different alternative texts for the thumbnail and the large photo. Maybe “complete alternative text (Thumbnail)” for the thumbnail image is good because that saves screen reader users a click – while also indicating that a larger version is available. Of course if the thumbnail is used in a link to an article with the larger image and there is text describing the article also present in the link, I would mark the image as decorative alt="".
