Write code, not too much, mostly HTML

If you’re not a web application like Google Docs or the like, you never need to use menu roles.

Just forget that they exist.

Oh, it is even better:

<a href="…" role="link" title="Link to Destination" aria-label="Destination">Destination</a>

Project Manager: “Quick, we have to make the website accessible!”

Dev: *googles*

*opens text editor*

*writes*

<a href="…" role="link">…</a>

And if you have more than a couple of options, a <select> is usually the appropriate choice.

If you need more guidance:

- Pick one out of a couple of options: Radio buttons, round, filled when selected, <input type="radio">

- Pick none, one, or many out of a couple of options: Checkboxes, squares, with checkmarks when selected, <input type="checkbox">

Das sind dann keine verschlüsselten Messenger mehr.

And it is ONLY for implementing ARIA regardless of context. If you are using ARIA in HTML you have many powerful tools that you can use that have ARIA build-in, for example:

If your checkboxes look like radio buttons, they are inaccessible.

It’s really easy.

This is like that Uber CEO tweet where he's just describing reinventing the bus. Everyone's brains have been so broken by the cult of innovative disruption that we're forgetting every public good invented in the last 2000 years. twitter.com/michellecyca/statu

Die Deutschen wären gern Recycling-Weltmeister. Das ist aber Wunschdenken:
• Jede/r Deutsche verursachte im im Jahr 2016 38 kg Plastikmüll
• Nur 16% des Mülls werden wiederverwendet
• Deutschland ist drittgrößter Müll-Exporteur der Welt

The UK economy shrank 0.4% in April following a 0.1% decline in March as  paralysis took hold. 0.5% is about £10bn. So in just 2 months the UK has lost more than its net contribution to the EU. independent.co.uk/news/busines

Today, we're giving a month shout-out to the singular they, which has been in use for centuries. Among its most famous historical users: Shakespeare, Chaucer, and Jane Austen.

Yes. Also don’t pile work on people at conferences. I so often see people sitting on hall floors, working instead of attending sessions or building a network.

RT @c089@twitter.com
Hey tech employers. A conference is not a holiday. Stop the haggling.

Demanding people to trade a vacation day to go to a conference on a Friday + not compensating for a Saturday + travel = more than two days of unpaid work.

I hear too much of that at
