I can’t stop watching this.

Q: What message do you have for people creating technology today and how they should think about accessibility?
A: It must be thought through during the design phase of any product. — Vint Cerf
The person credited with inventing the Internet, did so in large part because he’s hearing impaired.
”networked electronic mail… was hugely attractive to me because it replaced uncertain voice calls with the clarity of text.”
WOW! Fox News shocked to discover these newfangled liberal cellphones got cameras in 'em
If you like the stickers, I hope you’ll share! If you just like the idea, I hope you’ll think about including stickers at your next event. You don’t have to buy mine, there are others — mine just happen to be the ones I’m linking to 😉
I have not read it yet, but I know if it comes from @email@example.com, it’s probably really, really good! :-)
How do you solve a problem of unstyling a button?
How do you wrangle its stubborn inline-block?
How do you find a solution that still conveys a button?
An ARIAwidget? A native element? A CSS frown!
Also: if you’re a speaker or moderator, enforce using the mic. You don’t need to make a _thing_ about it, but simply saying “please use the mic” is usually enough.
If someone hands you a microphone at a conference Q&A:
DO NOT say something like “I’m loud enough” or “I don’t need a mic.”
Hard of hearing attendees may be using an assistive listening device. Captioners may be working remotely.
Just take the freaking mic. #a11y
We “accessibility professionals” are ready to move on, but the level of understanding is so low, it’s just not
The reason why so many accessibility talks talk about the same simple things over and over is these mistakes are still sooo common :( #fronteers
/* CSS in the wild 😕 */
OK, this annoyed me so much I'm going to do a quote retweet storm, a thing I've never done before. Men who get in bar fights are not tough guys. They're idiot drunks who can't even take care of *themselves*. It's a miracle when one can even land a proper punch. Here is a story. https://twitter.com/jengerson/status/1047183485557911552
Only 23% of Millennials regularly vote but 60% of Boomers do.
We don’t let our grandparents choose our music.
We don’t let our grandparents pick our style.
We don’t let our grandparents choose where we live.
Why are we letting our grandparents decide our future?
Especially those 30 pin connectors are totally relevant today…
Me in 2015: "Wow! I love this amazing 2015 #MBP, it has everything I could ever need!"
Me in 2018: "I only need $400 worth of adapters and an extra bag to carry them in to make this brand new 2018 #MacbooPro moderately functional in an annoying way."
Now that 1.0 is drawing near I need to finally get on and figure out what to do about the icon. The current one is a placeholder using some of the official Mastodon art, but it’s not really designed to work as an icon. I don’t quite trust myself to design anything good and cute enough to replace it.
So I’d have to find someone who can...
Just now came across the photos of #PeterCapaldi performing with @firstname.lastname@example.org in Glasgow! 😀👍 The first two belong to Peter Finnegan while the other two belong to Stephen Mackay Gillon. Rock on, #DoctorWho and #DrRobert! 😎🎸 https://www.facebook.com/feedbackpete ; https://www.facebook.com/stephen.gillon.7
I love when companies improve their accessibility :-)
@yatil @marcysutton Hey! I just added a quick option for adding alt text.
Would love to improve general accessibility when viewing decks too but we can't wrap all slides in an additional container, like in the plugin. Does 'aria-hidden' not work for screen readers? ~Hakim
